These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our Services, including browsing our site and purchasing products from our online store. By using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
1) Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2) Eligibility
You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (and able to form a binding contract) to make a purchase. If you use the Services on behalf of a business, you represent you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.
3) Accounts (If Offered)
If you create an account:
- You’re responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You’re responsible for activity under your account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts for misuse, suspected fraud, or violations of these Terms.
4) Products, Condition, and Compatibility
We sell older/vintage/legacy computer hardware, parts, and accessories. Items may show signs of age and prior use.
- We aim to provide accurate listings, photos, and specifications, but minor variances may occur.
- Compatibility is your responsibility. Legacy hardware can vary by revision, interface, and system requirements. If you’re unsure, contact us before purchasing with model numbers and system details.
5) Orders, Pricing, and Availability
- All orders are subject to acceptance by us. We may refuse, cancel, or limit orders at our discretion (e.g., stock issues, suspected fraud, pricing errors, shipping constraints).
- Prices, promotions, and availability may change without notice.
- If an item is listed incorrectly (price/stock error), we may cancel the order and issue appropriate credit/adjustment as required.
6) Payments (Square)
We use Square for payment processing. When you check out:
- Your payment information is processed by Square under Square’s terms and privacy practices.
- We generally do not store full card numbers on our systems.
7) Taxes
We may collect sales tax or other taxes where required by law, based on the shipping address and applicable rules.
8) Shipping, Delivery, and Risk of Loss
- We primarily sell online and ship orders to customers.
- Delivery dates are estimates and not guaranteed due to carrier delays, weather, and other factors.
- Unless otherwise required by law, risk of loss transfers as determined by applicable shipping terms at checkout and/or when the package is tendered to the carrier.
9) Returns, Store Credit, and Warranty (RMA Required)
This section provides the baseline return and warranty policy for purchases from The Computer Attic.
Return Policy (Store Credit)
- Products may be returned within 30 days of purchase for store credit (and/or replacement at our discretion).
- All returns are issued as store credit. We do not provide cash/card refunds for returns.
After 30 days
After 30 days, the product is under manufacturer warranty, if any exists. Manufacturer warranties vary by product category. If applicable, you may need to pursue warranty service with the manufacturer.
Items that are not returnable
- Sealed Retail Boxed items are not returnable once opened. You may return to the manufacturer if applicable.
- Software: All software is provided subject to the license agreement included in the package. Customer agrees it will be bound by the license agreement once the package is opened or its seal is broken.
- Licenses, Digital Goods, Services, or non-Physical Goods (such as service contracts or agreements) are not returnable.
- Physically damaged products are not returnable. Please notify the shipper immediately if you receive damaged merchandise.
Restocking fee and shipping charges
- All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
- Customer pays for the shipping cost of any product returned.
- All replacements are shipped ground unless paid by the customer for a faster method.
- Premium shipping charges are non-refundable.
- Shipping charges and tax, if any, are not refundable.
DOA (Dead on Arrival) / RMA inspection fee
For RMA claims of Dead on Arrival (DOA) product:
- A 50% RMA fee will be issued if the product is found to be working.
Return integrity / wrong-item prevention
Do not attempt to send something other than what we sent you. All shipments and serial numbers are scanned and/or video recorded prior to shipment.
30-Day Warranty (Store Credit / Replacement)
What does our warranty cover?
30 Days Warranty: replacement or store credit.
In case of defects in the material, we will first try to replace the merchandise. We shall keep replacing the merchandise as long as it remains under the period of the original warranty. If we fail to replace the merchandise, we will issue store credit for the actual sell price of the merchandise.
- Shipping charge and tax, if any, are not refundable.
- The Computer Attic reserves the right to decide whether it will replace the product or issue store credit (as applicable).
What Our Warranty Does Not Cover
Our warranties do not cover any problem that is caused by:
(a) accident; abuse; neglect; shock; electrostatic discharge; heat or humidity beyond product specifications; improper installation; operation; maintenance or modification;
(b) any misuse contrary to the instructions in the user manual;
(c) lost passwords;
(d) malfunctions caused by other equipment.
Our limited warranties are void if a product is returned with removed, damaged or tampered labels or any alterations (including removal of any component or external cover).
Our warranties do not cover data loss or damage to other equipment. Also, consequential damages; incidental damages; and costs related to data recovery, removal and installation are not recoverable under our warranties.
Return Procedure (RMA Required)
Before you return a product, you must obtain an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number from The Computer Attic’s Customer Service department via request at thecomputerattic@gmail.com
- Products returned without an RMA number are not considered returns.
- The Computer Attic must receive all incoming merchandise within 10 days otherwise the RMA will be void.
- The Computer Attic will not provide any warranty coverage unless you follow proper return procedure.

10) Acceptable Use (Prohibited Activities)
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, accounts, or systems
- Interfere with site operation (e.g., scraping, automated attacks, malware)
- Reverse engineer or attempt to circumvent security features
11) Intellectual Property
All site content (text, graphics, logos, product listings, images, and layout) is owned by or licensed to The Computer Attic and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or distribute site content without our written permission, except as allowed by law.
12) Third-Party Services and Links
The Services may include third-party tools or links (e.g., payment processing, analytics). We are not responsible for third-party sites or services, and your use of them is governed by their terms and policies.
13) Limitation of Liability
THE COMPUTER ATTIC DOES NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY BEYOND THE REMEDIES SET FORTH HEREIN, INCLUDING ANY LIABILITY FOR PRODUCTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE FOR USE OR FOR LOST OR CORRUPTED DATA OR SOFTWARE, OR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES AND SUPPORT. THE COMPUTER ATTIC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS OR OTHER CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN.
CUSTOMER AGREES THAT FOR ANY LIABILITY RELATED TO THE PURCHASE OF PRODUCTS OR SERVICES BUNDLED WITH THE PRODUCTS, THE COMPUTER ATTIC IS NOT LIABLE OR RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AMOUNT OF DAMAGES ABOVE THE AGGREGATE DOLLAR AMOUNT PAID BY CUSTOMER FOR THE PURCHASE OF PRODUCTS OR SERVICES UNDER THIS AGREEMENT.
14) Changes to the Services or Terms
We may update the Services and these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective when posted on this page. Your continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
15) Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where prohibited by law.
